Cheese Pizza
Better Than Delivery: Easy Homemade Cheese Pizza
Ingredients
For the Crust & Base
- 1 lb Pizza dough store-bought or homemade
- ½ cup Pizza sauce preferably low-moisture
- 1 tbsp Olive oil for brushing the crust
The Ultimate Cheese Blend
- 2 cups Low-moisture, whole-milk Mozzarella cheese shredded from a block
- ¼ cup Parmigiano-Reggiano finely grated
- ½ tsp Dried oregano or Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Place your pizza stone or an inverted baking sheet in the oven and preheat to its highest temperature (usually 500℉/260℃).
- Shape the Dough: On a piece of parchment paper, gently stretch and press your pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Leave the edges slightly thicker for a nice crust.
- Sauce and Edge Brush: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edge. Brush that outer border lightly with olive oil for a golden finish.
- The Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano directly onto the sauce first (this protects the crust from getting soggy). Follow with an even layer of the shredded mozzarella, then dust the top with dried oregano.
- Bake to Perfection: Carefully slide the pizza (with the parchment paper) onto your hot baking stone. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the crust is deeply golden and the cheese is bubbly and brown in spots. Let cool for 2 minutes before slicing.
